For one afternoon,
Polygyros becomes a 1950s neighbourhood once again.
On Sunday, 23 August 2026, from 17:00, the renewed pedestrian street of Polygyros transforms into a living setting filled with images, sounds, aromas and flavours from another era.
The Polygyros Trade Association, co-organising with the Municipality of Polygyros and with the support of the Halkidiki Chamber, invites residents and visitors on an immersive journey back to the 1950s.

Take your photo beside the authentic horse-drawn carriage of Mr Grigoris Tsiarapas.
Chess Tournament
An open tournament for young and old organised by the Polygyros Chess Club.
1950s Grocery Store
The travelling vendor, tinsmith, grocer, greengrocer and shoeshine return to the pedestrian street.
Rare Collections
The “Drachmas of Free Macedonia” collection and an exhibition of rare cameras from “Foto Periklis”.
300 Historic Photographs
A major photographic journey through the history, people and neighbourhoods of Polygyros.
Street Games
The games that once filled the neighbourhoods return for our younger visitors.
Retro Football
The historic Niki Polygyrou returns to the pitch for “Past vs Present”.
Traditional Flavours
Traditional pies, sweets and treats at different stops along the route.
Open-Air Cinema
Iconic scenes from Greek and international cinema of the 1950s.

Dresses, petticoats, scarves, hats, waistcoats, suspenders, vintage glasses and period hairstyles.
We encourage residents and visitors to dress in the spirit of the 1950s and become part of the living scene.

🎭 Karagiozis under the Plane Tree
The “Skias Onar” Shadow Theatre sets up its traditional screen beneath the plane tree in Chamber Square.
🎶 Sing-Along Serenade
A musical walk along the pedestrian street with guitars and accordion. We sing and walk together.
🎙️ Les Au Revoir Live
The evening’s grand musical finale at Town Hall Square.

Les Au Revoir take the stage to bring the celebration to a spectacular close with vintage covers, beloved melodies and rhythms inspired by the 1950s and 1960s.
